Dear Members:

As you may be aware, the Senate and House of Representatives have two (2) proposals for Healthcare.  The Senate Healthcare Bill proposes a 40% excise tax on healthcare benefits.  WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!

President Obama has come out in favor of taxing healthcare benefits.  We must get involved so that either the healthcare excise tax is eliminated entirely or it is such a small amount that it would become inconsequential to our Members.

I am asking that ALL Members participate in calling the toll free (888) number on the flyer tell your U.S. Representative to support the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Healthcare Bill.

The 888 number is the CWA Healthcare Hotline.  The number will ask you to say your name, and your Local number.  Your Local number is CWA Local 1023.  They will then ask for your zip code and give you an option of which House Representative or Senator you would like to speak to.  The idea is to get your House of Representative member to tell Nancy Pelosi that "we can't live with an excise tax on Healthcare Benefits".

It important that we flood the telephone lines in Washington D.C. with phone calls.

Fraternally,
Kathy Forte
President
CWA Local 1023

SPEED MATTERS!
www.speedmatters.org/howfast

Every American needs access to reliable and affordable high-speed internet.  Verizon’s strategy of concentrating on high-revenue customers and dumping lines in rural and other lower-revenue areas puts that in jeopardy.

Why is the US so Far Behind?
Why is the US 16th in the world in broadband adoption?
We invest less in communications; there is an enormous digital divide based on income and geography; and unionized jobs are being replaced by low-wage jobs with less training and higher turnover.

Almost every other developed country has a strategy to promote affordable, universal, fast broadband. High speed is essential for a strong economy in our communities and on the global playing field.

HOW FAST ARE YOU?

Our Union’s are fighting for public policy for universal high-speed broadband and for the jobs on that network.  Take the first step by testing the speed of your home internet connection.  It’s quick and easy and helps us gather data we need to make our case.
